There is no denying that Cottesloe will close out the 2021 financial year as the Western Suburb’s poster child. It may be the start of winter but it is hot hot hot in this coastal drawcard.
I visited 6 Griver Street on its first home open, and despite the rain, the property was clearly on every Cottesloe buyers' shopping list. Prestige cars en masse lined the street and the occupants of such were clearly wanting the same thing - a picture-perfect, turnkey Cott cottage. It was home open Block style!
This home has had a top-to-toe makeover and no stone has been left unturned in preparing the property for a commanding sale. Staged to perfection, just like the stream of Chloe-clad women pursuing every aspect of this charming weatherboard. From the beautifully bleached original floorboards seamlessly matched to new timber flooring of the addition to the endless sea of white–white walls, white skirting, white bathrooms, white cabinetry, the scene is set for mass appeal.
The bedrooms are all of a decent size with one getting the bonus original fireplace which will unlikely ever see a log burn in its belly hereon in but adds a certain romance to the room. The central hall has a grand feeling with traditional arches and leads to the country-style kitchen, again in a muted warm colour palette. I would like to say that it is all very vanilla, yet that restraint and consistent approach is what creates the appeal. I simply can’t say a bad word!
Well-conceived floorplans are a key ingredient in realising a high price for a property and #6 Griver Street will benefit handsomely I’m sure from the practicality of the layout. It’s your typical cottage design with bedrooms upfront and living at the rear but is enhanced by a walk-in-robe and ensuite to the master room, butler’s pantry off the kitchen, and a well-positioned laundry with access to the drying courtyard.
I get what the owners are doing here and they do it so very well. A monochromatic palette, crowd-pleasing furniture and styling, and a floor plan that will suit the typical 2 adults, 2.53 children family. I could already see the bidding wars looming as I hip and shouldered my way to the back garden.
With the property facing due West, the rear entertaining area is well shielded from the afternoon breeze. It’s a welcoming space and is further enhanced with a standalone games room/man cave abutting the rear boundary. One would assume that whoever acquires this property will want to retain the chic, minimal vibe of the primary residence so it’s my hope that this rear games room would allow for a place of unabashed, let-your-hair down, who-gives-a-toss living. It’s no doubt the icing on the cake for this ’tick all the boxes’ property.
